Cornea Grafting/ Keratoplasty
What is cornea grafting--- When cornea is diseased or has become white or gray and person is unable to see with that eye. a new cornea can be transplanted in place of the old one . That is done from the eye donations. The new transparent cornea can allow good vision.
Who needs cornea grafting (cornea transplant) ?
A number of conditions can be treated with a cornea transplant, including:
- Thinning of the cornea
- Cornea scarring, caused by infection or injury
- Clouding and swelling of the cornea
- Corneal haze after cataract operation.
- Advanced Keratocomnus
- Corneal dystrophies and defects since birth.
- Corneal ulcers, including those caused by infection
